Foreign vessels lacking a valid Ship Sanitation Certificate are required to undergo inspection upon their arrival in Denmark. This inspection is necessary to ensure that there are no diseases that can be transmitted to humans; thus, we examine the ships for the presence of rodents and insects.
How to apply for a Ship Sanitation Certificate in Denmark.
To obtain a Ship Sanitation Certificate, the vessel must complete an application form and submit it via email to kontakt@skadedyrservice.dk, along with a copy of the vessel’s current certificate. Once the inspection of the vessel is completed, the inspector will send a report of the inspection to the appropriate health authority (the Public Health Medical Officers) in the region where the inspection occurred. Upon receiving the inspection report, the Public Health Medical Officer will issue the corresponding Ship Sanitation Certificate – either a Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate or a Ship Sanitation Control Certificate.
The ship’s representative can collect the certificate from the Public Health Medical Officers in the region. The health office will impose a fee of DKK 518,- in addition to any charges that the pest control company may apply for conducting the inspection. Please contact the health office in the relevant region. [Read more about ship inspection at the Environmental Protection Agency]
